SAN JOSE CHAPEL

Facade, San Jose Chapel

Built only a few dozen meters away from the original location of the old San Jose chapel, this modern-day replica of the island's center of worship stands out in the noonday sun. To the extreme right is the east wing of the Corregidor Inn. Note: Many years ago, the large lawn in front of the chapel was used for a tree-planting project.  For this reason, the chapel's facade is now obscured by fully-grown trees.

Interior, San Jose Chapel

The chapel's simple and functional interior design is a departure from typical Spanish church designs, but is pleasing to the eye and conducive to worship. Services are held at least once a week. Like so many other quaint places in Corregidor, San Jose Chapel's photogenic qualities make it a favorite spot for taking souvenir photos.
